Negenthrropy: A New Student's Patriotism Manifest at FISIP UPNVY

Tuesday (15/8/2023) - The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) of UPN Veteran Yogyakarta proudly announces the successful completion of the Orientation Day for the upcoming batch of students. The program, held on Monday (14/08), aimed to facilitate the smooth transition of new students into campus life. It has received a wealth of positive feedback from both participants and university staff.

Here are some responses shared by the Freshmen of FISIP UPN Veteran Yogyakarta 2023. Skolastica Patriczia Citra, a newcomer in the Public Relations Department, expressed, "The event was so much fun because the invited speakers explained the material in an easily understandable language with a lively delivery. This kept the new students from feeling bored or sleepy during the presentations."

Furthermore, at the end of the event, some new students took the stage to perform, singing songs that added excitement and camaraderie to the closing atmosphere of Orientation Day.

"Exciting! Initially, I thought it might be boring, but it turned out to be thrilling towards the end. We hope future events will be even more exciting," said Pratika Wahyu Riana, majoring in Business Administration.

"Exciting! The seniors were cool, especially the security team," added Romi Stiawan, studying Public Relations.

"The dynamics were lively, the entertainment was great, and we're looking forward to the next concert!" exclaimed Ruth Alicia Silitonga, majoring in International Relations.

"The refreshments were delightful, but let's not be too strict with security," jokingly remarked Adrian Filifus, majoring in Communication Science.

"I feel happy, welcomed by the organizers, making me comfortable. Hopefully, events at the faculty will continue to improve and be enjoyable," said Faiq Aqil, majoring in International Relations.

The Orientation Day 2023 event was attended by approximately 800 participants. The Committee Chair, Arfan Varell, hopes that this event will instill in the new students a resilient personality and a desire for continuous learning. This aspiration gave rise to the concept of PKKBN FISIP 2023, drawing inspiration from the Harry Potter film, as "Harry Potter is seen as able to symbolize students with a strong character in defending the nation."

PKKBN FISIP 2023 adopts the theme "NEGENTHROPY - every ending is a new beginning." The term "Entropy" refers to a condition where human awareness is not well-organized and structured. Despite possessing a wealth of knowledge, feelings, and more, these elements often remain unaligned. However, through "Negentropy," consciousness is well-organized, creating interconnected knowledge, resulting in a unified whole, clear goals, and high responsibility and work ethic.

As students of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta, we believe that fostering a pioneering spirit and a sense of patriotism is crucial for new students to excel. This also encourages them to actively implement the values of patriotism in their daily lives.

Facing increasing competition in the job market, career planning and preparation become crucial. Therefore, the goal of PKKBN FISIP 2023 is to provide optimal support in creating better career opportunities.

Through this activity, it is hoped that new students can develop a strong new perspective in building their careers, while also shaping a pioneering spirit that is creative, innovative, and instilled with a sense of patriotism to make a positive contribution to the nation.

As a result of this program, students have reported feeling more confident and ready to embark on their academic journey. They commend the dedication of the campus to their successful integration into campus life.

With the conclusion of the Orientation Day, UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta looks forward to a productive academic year, enriched by the confidence that new students are equipped with the tools and resources needed to thrive.
