On Friday, November 18, 2022, officials from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at the Universitas Pembangunan Nasional "Veteran" Yogyakarta (UPNVY) conducted a benchmarking visit to the Faculty Council (DPF) of FISIP at the Universitas Sumatera Utara. The delegation was led by Dr. Sadeli, Chair of the FISIP UPNVY Senate, accompanied by Dr. Machya Astuti Dewi, M.Si., Dean of FISIP UPNVY. The delegation also included Senate members, Department Chairs, Department Secretaries, and Program Coordinators from the FISIP UPNVY environment. They were received by Dr. Hata Ridho, Dean of FISIP at Universitas Sumatera Utara, assisted by the Vice Dean for Cooperation, Heads of Study Programs, and Program Secretaries.
In his address, the Chair of the FISIP UPNVY Senate conveyed that the purpose of the visit was to gain an understanding of the role and duties of the DPF of FISIP at Universitas Sumatera Utara in overseeing and considering academic matters. The Dean of FISIP UPNVY added that the visit also aimed to continue the implementation of the Agreement on Cooperation in the Tridharma and MBKM fields signed by the deans of the Forum of Deans of Social Sciences at Indonesian State Universities (FORDEKIIS). This will be incorporated into discussions between the relevant Study Programs. FISIP UPNVY comprises five Study Programs: S1 International Relations, S1 Business Administration, S1 Communication Science, S1 Public Relations, and S2 (Master's) Communication Science.
Dean FISIP USU explained that the DPF structure consists of Professors and Program Coordinators. Their responsibilities include providing considerations related to academic policies, including the establishment of new Study Programs. Currently, FISIP USU offers Study Programs such as S1 Social Anthropology, S1 Business Administration, S1 Public Administration, S1 Communication Science, S1 Political Science, S1 Social Welfare, S1 Sociology, S2 Communication Science, S2 Political Science, S2 Sociology, S2 Development Studies, S3 Development Studies, and S3 Communication Science.
During the visit, agreements for cooperation in the Tridharma and MBKM fields between the relevant Study Programs were approved. The Study Programs of International Relations, Business Administration, and Communication Science from FISIP UPNVY collaborated with the Study Programs of Political Science, Business Administration, and Communication Science from FISIP USU. The details of this collaboration will be outlined in the Implementation Agreement (IA).
