Turning 22, FOTKOM Hosts PHILIA Photography Exhibition

Suara Sikap - The Student Study Group (Kelompok Studi Mahasiswa - KSM) FOTKOM 401 from the Department of Communication Science at UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta held a photography exhibition titled PHILIA Photography Exhibition at Leman Art House. The exhibition took place from February 17 to 19, 2023, and was open to the public. On the second day, 152 people had visited the exhibition.

FOTKOM 401 itself is a Student Study Group that is part of the Yogyakarta Student Photography Forum. Aside from being a gathering place, FOTKOM 401 serves as a platform for sharing knowledge related to the world of photography, including developments and challenges due to technological advancements that have introduced digital photography.

Clara, one of the visitors to the exhibition, expressed great enthusiasm upon seeing the showcased photos. Cultural elements, natural richness, feminism, and spirituality were presented in the form of figures, t-shirts, books, and wall clocks. "I particularly like street photography because it looks more spontaneous and natural," Clara said.

The PHILIA Photography Exhibition was organized to commemorate the 22nd anniversary of KSM Fotkom 401 with the theme "Appreciation." This activity represents the dedication of KSM Fotkom in its journey thus far. They have participated in various student photography gatherings in different regions of Indonesia such as Lampung, Makassar, Surakarta, Cirebon, Ternate, Jember, and Bali.

Beyond serving as a platform for expressing artistic souls and appreciation for the members of KSM FOTKOM 401, the purpose of this exhibition is to provide educational opportunities in photography that are beneficial according to current trends. Additionally, the photo exhibition is expected to introduce and stimulate public interest in the world of photography, enhance the creativity of FOTKOM 401 members, strengthen the brotherhood of FOTKOM 401, and maintain the existence of student works in the post-pandemic era.

Aryasatya Riszky Pradana, the chairman of the organizing committee, hopes that the creativity of each member can be applied not only in the form of figures but also in various other mediums. Furthermore, this exhibition accommodates all ideas that are part of student creativity.

"For the next generation, I hope KSM Fotkom will continue to evolve beyond just using figures for photos, and I hope that students can apply their photos not only in figures but also in prints and writings," Dana concluded. (Dwi Wahyu)
