To bridge students with the professional world beyond campus, the Public Relations Study Program, Department of Communication Science, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta, organized a Practitioner Lecture on Friday, October 31, 2025, held at the FISIP UPNVY campus.
The event featured Mr. Novel Ibnu Hafidz, General Manager and one of the owners of Hotel Grand Keisha Yogyakarta, as the guest speaker. In his session titled “SPEAK, SELL, SERVE: The Art of Presentation & Negotiation,” Mr. Novel shared insights and experiences from his over 30 years of career in the fields of communication and hospitality management.
According to him, a presentation is not merely about explaining data, but about creating an experience where the audience can see, feel, and understand the meaning behind the data. He emphasized that an effective speaker should not only be informative but also transformational—able to shift how people think through compelling narratives, strong visuals, and sound logic.
Students enthusiastically welcomed the session, expressing that they gained valuable insights into the realities of the professional world, particularly in the areas of professional communication, presentation skills, and negotiation techniques. The practitioner lecture also served as a contextual learning platform to help students better prepare themselves for the challenges of the workplace.
Through such initiatives, the Public Relations Study Program of FISIP UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta reaffirms its commitment to strengthening the synergy between academia and industry, ensuring that its graduates are not only theoretically competent but also adaptive, skillful, and ready to compete in the professional field.
