In an effort to strengthen the connection between academia and the professional world, the Public Relations Study Program, Department of Communication Science, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta, held a Practitioner Lecture on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at the FISIP UPNVY campus.
The event featured Prama Yogi, Public Relations Officer at Soekarno-Hatta Immigration Office and an alumnus of the Communication Science Department, UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta, as the guest speaker. In his presentation titled “Winning Negotiation through Personal Branding,” Prama shared his experiences and insights from his career in government public communication.
According to Prama Yogi, personal branding is a strategic process of presenting oneself consistently to highlight uniqueness, build credibility, and influence how others perceive one’s character and values. He emphasized that in the professional world, a strong personal brand can be a key factor in achieving success in negotiations, building trust, and creating new opportunities.
Students enthusiastically welcomed the session, gaining valuable insights into how communication strategies and personal image development play a crucial role in professional life. Beyond expanding their academic understanding, this lecture also provided students with practical knowledge to better prepare for future career challenges.
Through practitioner lectures like this, the Public Relations Study Program of FISIP UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta reaffirms its commitment to bridging the gap between academic learning and professional practice, ensuring that its graduates are not only theoretically competent but also adaptable and competitive in various communication-related industries.
