Yogyakarta, April 3, 2024 – On Wednesday, the 3rd of April, Dr. Machya Astuti Dewi, M.Si., the Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) from 2016 to 2024, was officially inaugurated as the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs by the Rector of UPN Veteran Yogyakarta, marking the beginning of her term for 2024-2028.
Dr. Machya Astuti Dewi brings with her a set of priorities as she embarks on her new role, aiming to enhance various aspects of academic affairs within the university:
-
Improving Data Center Dikti of UPNYK: Addressing the prevalent issues with PD Dikti data, Dr. Machya aims to streamline the accreditation process for each program, ensuring smoother procedures and avoiding complications that may impact the Institutional Performance Evaluation Program (IPEPA).
-
International Accreditation: FISIP stands as a pioneer in achieving international accreditation. Dr. Machya intends to extend this success by providing support and guidance to other faculties in their preparation for international accreditation processes, fostering global recognition for the university.
-
MBKM Enhancement: With the current achievement level of Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) still below expectations, Dr. Machya emphasizes the need for motivational schemes to encourage student commitment and participation in MBKM activities, enhancing their overall learning experience.
-
Acceleration of PhD Studies for Young Lecturers: Recognizing the challenges faced by young lecturers in pursuing doctoral studies due to fierce competition for scholarships, Dr. Machya aims to facilitate accelerated doctoral programs through partnerships with foreign universities. Special schemes and allocations, such as tuition fee waivers or provided living costs, are envisioned to alleviate financial burdens and provide alternative pathways for academic advancement.
-
Academic Positions for Lecturers: Many lecturers remain in assistant lecturer and lecturer positions, despite targets for promotion to senior lecturer and professor roles. FISIP has initiated programs for the accelerated promotion of senior lecturer and professor positions, and Dr. Machya plans to extend these initiatives university-wide. The goal is to witness tangible results within 1-2 years, fostering career advancement opportunities for lecturers across the institution.
Dr. Machya Astuti Dewi's vision and proactive approach signify a promising trajectory for academic excellence and advancement within UPN Veteran Yogyakarta, reinforcing the university's commitment to providing quality education and fostering scholarly growth. As she assumes her new role, Dr. Machya pledges to work tirelessly towards achieving these objectives, ensuring the university's continuous progress and global recognition in the academic landscape.
